Investigations
This unit is comprised of agents that have a wide range of expertise in many facets of criminal detection. The responsibility of this unit is to assist local, federal, and other state police agencies with crimes such as forgeries, false identifications, homicides, computer crimes, and state property thefts. The Special Investigations Unit also assists police agencies outside the state in locating fleeing felons from other state jurisdictions. This unit also assists the Utah Highway Patrol in the event that an investigation of a crime or suspect interrogation is needed. The goal of the Special Investigations team is to give quality law enforcement to the citizens of Utah by providing professional investigative assistance to local law enforcement and other governmental entities.

- Pen Register and analysis reports
- Wire intercept, listening post and software analysis reports
- Off-site audio and video surveillance set-up
- Maintenance and update of electronic and surveillance equipment within the division
